We’ll Be on the Tools While the Awards Are On.. And We Couldn’t Be Prouder

This Friday, while many businesses gather to celebrate the 2026 NECA Queensland Awards, we’ll be exactly where we need to be this year, out on site, looking after our clients.

As a small and emerging electrical business, every working day matters. While we’d have loved to attend the awards presentation, we’ve made the practical decision to keep serving our customers rather than taking time away from the business.

Does that make us any less proud? Absolutely not.

Being named a finalist in the 2026 NECA Queensland Awards is an incredible achievement in itself. For a young business, it’s recognition that the values we’ve built Duncon Electrical on, being quality workmanship, reliability, honest communication and genuine customer service, are already making an impact.

Recognition We Never Take for Granted

When we started Duncon Electrical, the goal was never to chase awards. It was to build a business that people could genuinely rely on.  A business where clients know they’ll receive quality work, honest advice and a team that turns up when they say they will.

To now be recognised as a finalist by the National Electrical and Communications Association (NECA), one of Australia’s most respected industry organisations, is something we’re incredibly grateful for.

Being acknowledged alongside so many established and highly regarded electrical businesses across Queensland is both humbling and motivating.

Why We Won’t Be There

Many people have asked whether we’ll be attending the awards ceremony.

The honest answer is no.

Like many small businesses, we’re constantly balancing opportunities with practical business decisions. Attending the event would mean purchasing tickets, travelling and taking valuable time away from our clients, our work and of course the cashflow.

At this stage of our journey, every dollar we invest and every day we spend away from the business has to make sense. While we’d absolutely love to celebrate with everyone on Friday, our priority remains delivering for our clients and putting back into the business.

It’s simply a case of making the right decision for where our business is today.

This Is Just the Beginning

Being named a finalist tells us we’re heading in the right direction.

It reminds us that the long days, early mornings, problem solving, continual learning and commitment to doing quality work are being recognised by more than just our clients.

That recognition means a great deal to a young business still building its name.

While we won’t be in the room on Friday, we’ll certainly be cheering on every finalist and winner. The NECA Awards play an important role in recognising excellence across our industry, and we’re proud to support the event and everything it stands for.

Looking Ahead

We look forward to next year being able to enjoy the full awards journey, from being named a finalist to attending the event and celebrating alongside our industry peers.

Until then, we’ll keep doing what we’ve always done: showing up, working hard, looking after our clients and continuing to raise the standard of every project we complete.

Whether or not our name is called on Friday, we already feel like winners.

To our clients, suppliers, family, friends and everyone who has supported Duncon Electrical, thank you. Your trust has helped us reach this milestone, and we’re excited about what the future holds.

Here’s to continuing to build something we’re proud of one project, one client and one connection at a time.
